Product Description

Macrobrachium rosenbergii nodavirus (MrNV) is a double-stranded RNA virus that belongs to the family Nodaviridae. It infects freshwater prawns of the species Macrobrachium rosenbergii and causes white tail disease, which is characterized by whitened muscles and high mortality. MrNV was first reported in Taiwan in 1992 and has since been detected in several countries in Asia and Africa. MrNV has a bipartite genome consisting of two segments: RNA1 encoding the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) and RNA2 encoding the capsid protein. The kit is based on a PCR reaction to detect MrNV in the shrimp.
