Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7 is a strain of bacteria that can cause severe food poisoning and gastroenteritis in humans. It is commonly found in contaminated food, particularly undercooked beef and raw vegetables. Symptoms of infection include bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, and in severe cases, it can lead to kidney failure. E. coli O157:H7 is a significant public health concern and the study of its interaction with the human digestive system is an important area of research in microbiology and food safety. The kit is based on a PCR reaction for the detection of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in food and environmental samples.
Features and Benefits:
• Sequential approach to detecting Top STEC. Following sample preparation with IMS against the Top 6 or Top 7 O groups, samples are analyzed for the presence of eae with the GDS Top 6 or 7 STEC (eae) assay. Positive samples are subsequently analyzed for Shiga Toxin genes with the Shiga Toxin Genes (Top 6 or Top 7) assay
• Confirm E. coli O157:H7 positives samples with Shiga Toxin Genes (O157) assay
• Single-step 10-18 h enrichment in mEHEC; enrichment media common to all BioControl methods for E.coli O157:H7, Shiga Toxin genes, and Top STEC
Components:
• Shiga Toxin Genes Amplification Tubes Tq
• O157 Concentration Reagent
• Resuspension Buffer Tq
• Wash Solution
