Vibrio cholerae O139/O1 are two serogroups of gram-negative bacteria that can cause cholera, a severe diarrheal disease that can lead to dehydration, shock, and even death if left untreated. Cholera is transmitted through the consumption of contaminated water or food, particularly seafood. While cholera is rare in developed countries, it remains a major public health concern in many parts of the world, particularly in areas with poor sanitation and inadequate access to clean water. The kit is based on real-time PCR technology to detect Vibrio cholerae O139/O1.
