Product Description: | Enterovirulent E. coli (EEC), specifically the shiga toxigenic strains, are bacteria that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness in humans. They are commonly found in contaminated food and water, and can lead to symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. In severe cases, it can cause hemolytic uremic syndrome, a life-threatening condition that affects the kidneys and blood clotting. The kit is based on a PCR reaction for the detection of E. coli O157:H7 and the "Top Six" non-O157 Shiga Toxigenic E. coli (STEC) in food and environmental samples. |
Features: | Features and Benefits: • Designed specifically to follow GDS MPX Top STEC assays • Identification of the specific O serogroup(s) responsible for the positive STEC result and verifies that all targets relevant to the definition of a Top 6 STEC (eae, stx and O group) are present within a single organism • Confirm isolated colonies from samples presumptive positive for Top 6 STEC • Utilizes the same single-step enrichment media common to all BioControl methods for Salmonella, E.coli O157:H7, Shiga Toxin genes, and Top STEC • Only 14 hours from start to finish Components: • MPX Group 1 STEC Amplification Tubes • MPX Group 2 STEC Amplification Tubes • Top 6 STEC Concentration Reagent • Resuspension Buffer Tq • Top STEC Wash Solution |
