Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV8) is also known as Kaposi's sarcoma associated herpesvirus (KSHV). KSHV is a double-stranded DNA virus with a large genome wrapped in proteins and lipids called virions. KSHV is associated with human tumorigenesis.
