Bacillus Pertussis is a gram-negative bacterium that causes the respiratory infection known as whooping cough, or pertussis. Pertussis is highly contagious and can be particularly dangerous for infants and young children, who may experience severe complications such as pneumonia, seizures, and even death. Vaccination against pertussis is the most effective way to prevent the disease, but outbreaks still occur in unvaccinated or under-vaccinated populations. The kit is based on real-time PCR technology to detect Bordetella pertussis.
