Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium that lives in marine and estuarine environments. It can cause gastroenteritis in humans who consume raw or undercooked seafood contaminated with the bacterium, especially oysters. It can also cause wound infections if exposed to seawater or seafood. Vibrio parahaemolyticus produces a toxin called thermostable direct hemolysin (TDH), which damages the intestinal cells and causes diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and fever. Some strains also produce another toxin called TDH-related hemolysin (TRH), which has similar effects. The kit is based on a PCR reaction to detect Vibrio parahaemolyticus in the shrimp.
Kit components:
1. AHND Premixture
2. PCR Internal Control (white cap)
3. DNase/RNase free water
4. AHND PCR Positive control
5. PCR Negative control
