Product Description

Gill-associated Virus (GAV) is a virus that infects shrimp and causes mortality and reduced growth. It belongs to the family Roniviridae and the genus Okavirus. It has a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA genome of about 26 kb and four structural proteins: spike (S), envelope (E), membrane (M), and nucleocapsid (N). GAV is transmitted by horizontal contact or ingestion of infected tissues or water. GAV can cause gill necrosis, hepatopancreatic atrophy, reddening of appendages and tail, and yellowing of cephalothorax. GAV is one of the six genotypes of okaviruses that infect shrimp species. This kit is based on real-time reverse transcription PCR to detect Gill-associated virus (GAV).
