| Product Description: | The CD EGFR RT-PCR Kit is a real-time PCR-based assay using mutant-specific probes to detect the presence of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. EGFR is a membrane protein involved in signaling that promotes cell growth and proliferation. The tyrosine kinase (TK) domain of EGFR activates several downstream effectors, leading to the activation of the Ras-Raf-MAPK pathway. EGFR overexpression and oncogenic mutations that activate the TK domain of EGFR have been found in various solid tumors. Studies have shown that the overactivation of EGFR is associated with advanced cancer and poor prognosis. |
