Avian Influenza Virus (AIV) is a type of influenza A virus that infects birds, especially waterfowl. AIV can cause mild to severe disease in poultry and sometimes in humans. AIV is classified by two groups of proteins: hemagglutinin (H) and neuraminidase (N). There are 16 H subtypes and 9 N subtypes of AIV. Some subtypes, such as H5N1 and H7N9, are highly pathogenic and can cause outbreaks with high mortality rates. This kit is based on real-time reverse transcription PCR to detect Avian Influenza Virus.
