CircRNA and Target Gene Interaction Network

SPEAK TO A SCIENTIST

Introduction

Circular RNA (circRNA) is an RNA molecule with a stable circular structure that exists in eukaryotic cells. It mainly adsorbs miRNAs by acting as a molecular sponge of miRNAs. Some circRNAs can competitively bind to miRNAs, release miRNA's inhibitory effect on target genes, up-regulate the expression of target genes, and then regulate the expression of target genes at the transcriptional level. miRNA is closely related to the occurrence of diseases, therefore, circRNA also plays an important role in the occurrence of diseases. In addition, circular RNA can strictly regulate the process of cell reproduction and growth at the pre-transcription, post-transcription and translation levels by combining different types of functional proteins. Circular RNA, as a star molecule that continues to be researched, is different from its rich expression profile research, and the research on the functional mechanism of circular RNA is only in its infancy. Therefore, the analysis of the circRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network will provide new insights in the field of disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Application Fields

With the gradual maturity of circRNA analysis methods and technologies, circRNA and target gene interaction network analysis is wildly used in biomedical research.

  • Basic research: Research on the biological function of circRNA and analysis of the interaction network with miRNA and mRNA.
  • Disease research: the mechanism of disease occurrence, biomarker research, disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment research.
